We Are Research

Improving Lives Through Agricultural Research And Development.

Science For A Better Tomorrow.

Universities across the nation engage in research, but at least one Land-grant college or university per state is home to an agricultural experiment station. Experiment station scientists collaborate with farmers, researchers, and government agencies to address challenges in agriculture and disseminate their findings to benefit the agricultural community and society at large.

Overall, agricultural experiment stations serve as engines of innovation, knowledge dissemination, and sustainability in the agricultural sector, contributing to global food security and environmental stewardship.

The Hatch Act of 1887 authorized the establishment of an agricultural experiment station in each state, which today employs about 13,000 scientists. Many institutions have branch stations to serve the unique needs of different climates and geographical zones in those states. Federal and state governments cooperate in funding the research done at the stations, with additional income coming from grants, contracts, and the sale of products.
